Andrew G. Macdonald (Brazil)

Andrew Macdonald worked for the Bunge Group for 43 years in England, thereafter in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand, Argentina, Brazil and the United States. 33 years in Brazil and 36 years in the Cotton Business, which period included cotton buying/ginning at SANBRA (1973-1981), Director of the Bed Sheeting Division of Santista (1983-1985) and General Manager of Cotton States Trading, Spartanburg, South Carolina, a cotton trading Company owned by Bunge (1981-1983). He retired in 2002 as a Director of Santista Textile, responsible for all supplies, which included 120,000 tons of cotton per annum for the factories in Brazil, Argentina and Chile.

Today AMCON CONSULTING, a cotton and textile consulting company is owned and managed by Andrew Macdonald.

  • Decorated by Her Majesty the Queen for services to the British Community in Sao Paulo (OBE)
  • Made Honorary Citizen of Mato Grosso in 2000 for pioneering work in cotton production in the state.
  • Awarded Brazil's ABRAPA "Cotton Personality of the Year" in 2003.
