B.K. Patodia (India)

Mr. B.K. Patodia, born in 1945, is the Chariman and Managing Director of GTN Textiles Ltd. and Chairman of Patspin India Ltd. and GTN Enterprises Ltd. He is at the helm of well-known GTN Group of Companies comprising GTN Textiles Ltd, Patspin India Ltd. and GTN Enerprises Ltd. The Group is one of the largest exporters of fine and superfine combed cotton yarns and has won the Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council's Export Awards for 24 years. GTN Textiles Ltd. is a pioneer in setting up Compact Spinning in India. Currently, the Group has around 215,044 operative spindles, including about 150,000 Compact spindles. The GROUP's turnover is approximately $150 million.

Mr. B.K. Patodia, a Bachelor of Engineering from Birla Institute of Science and Technology, Pilani, is the past Chairman of the Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (Texprocil), Mumbai. He is also the past Chairman of the Indian Cotton Mills' Federation (now known as Confederation of Indian Textile Industry), and Southern India Mills' Association. He is also the Past President of the Employers' Federation of Southern India and the Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Mr. Patodia has been appointed by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution as a member of the Advisory Committee to advise the Central Government and Forward Markets Commission regarding Commodity Futures Markets in India.

Mr. Patodia is currently the Co-Chairman of Advisory Committee for Strategic Planning of SIMA Cotton Development and Research Association. He was Director of the Board of Directors of Cotton Association of India (CAI), Mumbai. Mr. Patodia continues to serve on various Committees including Cotton Advisory Board and Cotton Yarn Advisory Board constituted by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
